Well, well, well, is this going to be one of the Christmas Movies of the year? This new James Bond – Skyfall review is probably already “yesterday’s news”, as I, as usual, am not the first to see it. Well, having young children, means the logistics of cinema going are restricted some what. But Skyfall movie review you get! This time I went with my husband, so it will be nice to get his perspective too!
Skyfall Film info:

Synopsis:
MI6 comes under attack and 007′s loyalty to M is tested. Something in M’s past comes back to haunt her.
Needless, to say we are keeping the synopsis short, as we don’t really want to spoil the movie for you… and watching the plot unfold is half the fun. After all, this is a James Bond movie and most of us, have an idea what James Bond movies are like. And either we want to see it or not. Long synopsis or not.
But what did we think of it? Skyfall is already hailed one the best James Bond movies ever and ticket sales have been through the roof. However, we went (all be it on a Sunday evening), the cinema was not jam packed as expected (actually it was quite empty). The film was excellent, some quirky “old meets new” ideas, with some hints of what future bond films will look like (afterall this is 50 years of James Bond, isn’t it?)? Meet the new (and very young Q), there are less gadgets and James Bond is more back to basics with A-Team style innovations.
I like to be entertained and entertained I was. I like some eye candy (shh don’t tell hubby) and eye candy I got (though I somehow preferred Daniel Craig in Casino Royal, and most definitely preferred him in Layer Cake).
My hard to please hubby (he last went to the cinema 3 years ago to watch Inglourious Basterds - very good by the way). His verdict: he was entertained, he enjoyed it, he was glad he came to see it *BUT* there was something not quite right about the film. After much prodding and questioning, he came to the conclusion – that Skyfall lacked some of the classic James Bond humour – the sharp, funny and excellent delivery of lines. Yes it was there, but it just wasn’t quite up to Roger Moore’s standard!

Our overall rating:
So… my overall ratings:
Would my husband like this film? Yes he did.
Likeability of characters – 9/ 10 (the baddy was well cast, we love Daniel Craig and we adore Judi Dench)
General story line – 8/10 (the storyline was fine, but lacked some of the James Bond smoothness and humour of James Bond Movies gone by)
The Ending – 8/10 (I liked the ending and the introduction to future James Bond casts, my husband found the moneypenny bit odd?)
Overall? Definitely makes for a good night out, you will be entertained, you will get eye candy (just don’t look too closely at the baddy). If you love James Bond movies, you will enjoy his one. But we are not sure we would give it the “best James Bond movie ever” rating, but a pretty good one for the 50th anniversary!
