Finally, I get a chance to share my Brave Movie Review. Brave has been out for a few weeks now, but with half term and then Christmas upon us, it feels like it the traditional movie going time with kids is about to begin.
- Cast: Kelly MacDonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane
I actually watched brave with out my children. They are currently 4.5years almost 3years. And I am glad I didn’t bring them. Overall, Brave was very enjoyable, but because the core plot evolves around humans being transformed into bears (by a witch), there are a number of quite scary and somewhat distressing scenes. My 3year old would definitely have cried. My 4.5year old “likes scary”, but I wonder if even these scenes would have been a bit too much for him.
I would say – don’t take any child younger than 6 years old, unless they are really hardy cinema and Disney film watchers.
[Note: some of my pinterest readers said that it was fine for their 2 and 4yrs olds. I still wouldn’t watch this with my two AT the cinema, but would consider watching it at home – where things are not so big, noisy or dark and you can fast forward on the scary bits!]
Here is a trailer:
Would my husband have enjoyed it? I think he would have said it is “ok”/ tolerable (he is hard to please!).
Did my friend enjoy it? Very much.
Likeability of characters – 9/ 10 (they were quirky and funny, with great voices and lines)
General story line – 8/10 (a little bit different and great to “see” the beautiful Scottish Highland all be it in animation)
The Ending – 7/10 (the ending was a bit predictable, but then most animated films are, so it is ok)
