As it is Christmas, we thought a trip to Tinkerbell the Movie would make for a nice Christmas treat. We went with the almost 5yrs old boy, the 3yrs old girl and an Auntie an Uncle. Overall we it was a really sweet and lovely film. And I think both the boy and girl enjoyed it in equal amounts.

Synopsis:
Tinkerbell is a warm fairy and lives on the warm side of the world. However she if VERY curious about the winter woods and really wants to go there to see how the winter fairies live. It is strictly forbidden for the fairies to cross over – the winter woods are too cold for the warm fairies. And the warm side is too hot for the winter fairies. But Tinkerbell cannot resist. And as she crosses over, something magical happens to her wings. She then meets the winter fairy Periwinkle and a deep bond is forged. However, Tinkerbell and Periwinkle’s antic cause trouble and the fairy dust tree is in danger. What will happen?
Overall, this is a really sweet and lovely story of friendship and adventure. My son was RIVETED and at the edge of seat throughout the whole movie. The girl, seemed to enjoy it too, but was a little tired, so it was difficult to tell how much she liked it. From a parent’s perspective, I would say that this is the first film that we have watched EVER, without any scary bits at all – yes there is some excitement and worry about the fairy dust tree, as well as about some potentially broken wings – but there are no scary creatures in this cute film at all. So I think this is a great movie for even the smallest amongst us.
The only thing I wasn’t so keen on.. is that Tinkerbell’s and Periwinkle’s fairy friends where very barbie-esque, which again, as a parent I found irritating, as I can see a stream of fairy barbie doll merchandising heaidng our way.

Over all rating:
Would my husband have enjoyed it? I think he would have been a little bored. This is definitely an animation made for kids and not adults (which is not a bad thing, I hasten to add)
Did the kids enjoy it? Absolutely. I highly recommend it especially for younger children
Likeability of characters – 7/ 10 (Tinkerbell and Periwinkle are lovely, but I am not keen on the barbie-esque friends)
General story line – 8/10 (there is a mystery and it is fun and exciting without any scary bits)
The Ending – 9/10 (happy lovely ending)
From an adult perspective, not the best animation – but as a parent, I think this adorable and lovely and I highly recommend taking your kids.

Ah I’ve been wondering about taking The Fairy to see this – she loves tinkerbell – but we watch on DVD in Spanish so might confuse her as all the characters have different names! Think from your review she would enjoy it tho
