I was invited to go along to a special screening of the The ReWrite movie (with Hugh Grant) to celebrate the digital release this week and DVD release next week of the movie. I do love how easy it is now to get the latest movie, onto your TV screen, all set for a cozy night in.. but I digress. I also enjoyed going to the screening! I missed the original film at the cinema and as a huge Hugh Grant fan, was pleased to get this chance to see it.
Synopsis:
The film is about a failed screen writer, Keith, whose life has come to a bit of a dead end – a one hit wonder with a successful movie many years earlier, he now is divorce, single, drinks too much and a bit of a flirt (a yes, a perfect role for Hugh Grant, who hasn’t quite managed to shake that character since Bridget Jones). He has no money, the film industry doesn’t want to know and he needs a job. His agent finds him a position in teaching, which is reluctant to take but needs. So he decides to make life easy – invite all the pretty girls and a handful of nerds to balance it out to class and then dismiss miss them for the rest of the month getting them “to write”.
As with all Chick Flicks and “feel good movies”… Keith has an epiphany and realises that he loves teaching and he loves his class and that he no longer wants to hang around with 19yrs old girls… a happy ending follows.
Watch the Trailer
What did I (and my friend think)?
If you like Hugh Grant.. you will love the movie. Marisa Tomei is wonderful to watch too – a perfect match as the single mum with two young girls – full of energy, hope and honesty.
If you like Chick Flicks, you will love the movie – it has a calm steady pace about it and you get to ogle Hugh lots. The other characters are chic flick quirky.
Would my husband of liked it?
I think he would have said “oh no, do we have to watch this” and then probably quite enjoyed it anyway (he is usually like that… ha).
So definitely a movie to download and watch if you are looking for a cozy night in with some homemade popcorn and a glass of wine. Even better, one to watch with the girls ad then let the Babysitter know that you have it!
Enjoy.
